The Bergstrasse Faith Community adopted these CORE VALUES to drive the mission and ministry of the Bergstrasse Church. Core Values guide our highest priorities, deeply held beliefs, that we strive to honor as our fundamental driving force for building community.
~ We welcome all people seeking a closer relationship with God. Period.
~ We believe the way we treat one another is the fullest expression of how we live out our lives.
~ We find our approach to God through the life and teachings of Jesus Christ who is our model for living.
~ We recognize the faithfulness of other paths which may also lead people to an experience of God.
~ We understand the church as a community of people who together make up the body of Christ.
~ We follow Matthew 18:15-20* for guidance when there is conflict.
~ We believe that the questions are as important as the answers, that living into the mystery of faith is a more sacred position than church tradition and doctrine.
~ We strive to “love all, serve all, in Jesus’ name” as we proclaim our mystery of faith that: Christ died. Christ lives. Christ comes again and again.
*“If another member of the church sins against you, go and point out the fault when the two of you are alone. If the member listens to you, you have regained that one. But if you are not listened to, take one or two others along with you, so that every word may be confirmed by the evidence of two or three witnesses. If the member refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church.”
We commit to living into these core values by:
1. Participating in regular Worship.
2. Engaging in faithful study of scripture and contemporary theologians.
3. Developing prayer practices.
4. Serving in our congregation and with neighbors beyond our walls.
5. Build healthy relationships with others.
6. Create a culture of generosity sharing time, talents, and treasure.
